This Idler tube can be used for two major purposes, New Construction or meter replacement. It is the same thread size and lay length as a 5/8″ x 1/2″ water meter.
New Construction:

• Used to properly space meter couplings or meter valves when the water meter is not yet available.
• Schedule 80 PVC is easier to use for initial plumbing in of meter couplings than a heavy  and more expensive brass water meter idler tube.
• Can be used to plumb for a future water meter to be installed at a later date while allowing water use and the place for the future meter.

Meter Replacement

• A meter idler tube can be used to supply water temporarily if a meter is removed for repair or testing.
• Can be used for flat rate billing when plumbing is done in anticipation of a future utility or submetering water meter being installed.

Specs:

• For proper spacing of a 5/8″ (5/8″ x 1/2″) water meter meeting AWWA specification (USA/Canada)
• Lay Length 7-1/2″
• AWWA 1/2″ Water Meter Coupling Thread (3/4″ NPS) (Approximately 5/8″ I.D. and 1″ O.D.).
• Schedule 80 PVC Plastic – exterior painted gold
• NSF approved materials for drinking water
• High pressure 340 PSI rated S80 PVC
• Includes:
• 1 – PVC spacer tube sized for 5/8″ x 1/2″ Water Meters
• 2 – 1/2″ Rubber Water Meter Gaskets for a 5/8″ water meter
